District I Councilman and Vice Mayor Orval "OB" Badger walks his neighborhood almost every day.  At San Leandro and Palma Plazas, he greets shopkeepers by their names. Later in the downtown heart of the city, he shakes merchants hands, while waving at passing cars, their passengers shouting back greetings to him.

OB is walking his city as he has been for over 20 years now - walking and talking to his neighbors. He listens to his constituents, even as he is scooping up someone else's litter and tossing it in the nearby trashcan. He listens to complaints and suggestions alike and some he will take back to City Hall. Each person who he encounters on each day that he walks his district and beyond has something to say to him. He is listening, because that's what neighbors do and that is why OB Badger is "everybody's neighbor."

The Orval "OB" Badger for Mayor Committee wishes to thank the reporters and staff of the San Leandro Times and the Daily Review for their coverage of OB over the last five years.  Since the day OB became a councilman, San Leandro citizens have read about his community service activities by a very kind press.  Many wonderful stories and letters to the editor have featured our candidate, some of which we will publishin the coming months on this website in full or in part, as testimony to his worth in our town.

The cornerstone of my personal philosophy is community service. I am committed to giving back to the city I love. It is my sincere belief that San Leandro must have clean, friendly, economically vibrant and safe neighborhoods. This drives my unswerving service to the residents, businesses, youth and elderly of this community. But I don’t just “talk the walk,” I also quite literally “walk it” in my neighborhood and yours to fight what’s wrong and to promote what’s right.
